Fertilizer Supplies Limited / DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid)

Fertilizer Update by Rob Fritz

Spring fertilizer supplies could be very limited.  A combination of limited supplies and difficulties transporting product up and down the river due to the extremely cold winter will strain availability of many products.  Flexibility when choosing inputs might be necessary this spring. Equipment Tips by Mike Bemboom

DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid)

DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) is becoming very common with new tractors, combines, semi trucks and even pickup trucks. You may have started seeing blue fill caps next to the fuel tank caps; those caps are where the DEF tank is filled. There should be a gauge on the vehicle’s instrument cluster just like a fuel gauge. You’ll want to make sure you don’t run out. If you do, you’ll be able to move but most tractors will derate to 50% HP or less. Some diesel pickups will limit you to 5 mph if you run out. Spring is coming, no matter what it looks and feels like outside.  Make sure you have enough DEF for the equipment that requires it. Give me a call at 1-800-274-3389 if you have any questions.
