Fertilizer Update by Rob Fritz
Lower prices on the horizon? We are expecting fall fill prices to come out soon. From all indicators, it looks like fertilizer will be lower and possibly much lower than last season. We already have $0.25/lb N in the urea form we can get today, and that is much lower than last year. This will pressure the liquid N market to drop, so we are expecting and hoping for big moves down. P and K pricing is flat at this time, but we do suspect that we will see lower fill prices. Click here to send Rob an e-mail.Equipment Tips by Mike Bemboom
Importance of Nozzle Selection in Weed Control
Weeds have been pretty tough to kill this year no matter what you spray on them. Coverage is always important so make sure you’re using your nozzles in the proper pressure range. Air induction nozzles will typically run at higher pressure than flat fans. It’s also important to keep the pressure in a certain range if you’re aiming for a certain droplet size. Check your nozzles chart and make sure you size your nozzles accordingly. I’ve seen a few sprayers this spring with nozzles too small for the speed, pressure, and gallons trying to be applied. If these are out of sync, it could mean poor coverage as well as increased drift potential. It always best to control as many variables as possible when the weeds are this tough to control.
