Fertilizer Pricing Appears Stable into Early 2012 / Advantages of Owning Your Own Fertilizer Spreader

Fertilizer Update by Rob Fritz

Rob FritzPricing on fertilizer has been very stable over the past two weeks.  The long-term market outlook appears to be stable, as well.  Supplies of products are good at this point, and we look for very few supply issues toward spring. Urea pricing out of the terminals continues to be very attractive when compared to the liquid forms.  I look for this trend to continue into the spring. Equipment Tips by Mike Bemboom

Advantages of Owning Your Own Fertilizer Spreader

A fertilizer spreader can be a valuable piece of equipment on your farm.  Being able to spread your own fertilizer can be a way for you to save some money on your farm by not having to hire it out. It can also save you money by allowing you to buy wholesale fertilizer when the price is most attractive. You don’t need much for storage or transport. A payloader would make quick work of loading a spreader, but a tractor with a loader or a large skid loader would also work. Most spreaders range from a 5-ton to 8-ton capacity and are PTO-driven. Stainless steel is a high-quality material that holds up very well, making it a popular choice for most spreaders.  Spreaders made from this material will give you years of use and savings.
