Using Land Rollers to Aid Clod Breakdown

With all of the rough fields filled with large dirt clods, there has been talk of using land rollers to break them up this spring if mother nature doesn’t do it herself.  Keep in mind that land rollers are designed to push large solid objects (rocks or perhaps large hard dirt clods) into the ground.  So if you go out and try to break up the clods with a land roller, make sure you’re actually breaking them up and not just pushing them down into the soil. If the clods don’t break up as planned, you may need to resort to another type of tillage. Click here to send Mike an e-mail. [table “1” not found /]
